A Cetaceous Cache … or Just a Nice Little Pouch
Some time ago, when I met my fantastic Synik 30 (X-Pac/Kiwi) by Tom Bihn, which I mention quite often because I am still completely enamored by it in every way, I started looking at packing it out as my primary EDC. I think that only bag nerds, like I am, can truly appreciate the joy of meeting and getting to know a new bag.
While I was exploring my new EDC companion, it became clear that just throwing things into the pockets may not be the most optimal way to use the space. I needed something more in there to keep things from falling to the bottom with a thud and laying in a clump.
Dang it, Tom Bihn! You got me again! 😂
Back to the website I go!
Consequently, I found the Ghost Whale Organizer Pouch (small, for the sake of specificity) – a little zippered pouch that holds stuff. Ok… I found a couple Ghost Whale Pouches AND a couple Cubelets, Key Straps, a Small Snake Charmer, and an HLT2. If you’re here, you understand fully.

They’re such fun little pouches! Why do they call it a Ghost Whale Organizer Pouch? Turn it sideways.

Colorways and Sizes
The Ghost Whale Organizer Pouch comes in several colorways and a few different sizes – currently all ballistic nylon. My only experience is with the small one, which is a good enough reason to order more, I suppose. I just haven’t figured out a use case that would require me to have the A5, although it’s super cool. Does “just in case” count?

Use Case
The small Ghost Whale Organizer Pouch can hold quite a few items with a length of about 6 inches – maybe just a touch more. I use one size small to keep pens/pencils/markers together and another size small to hold my spare pair of glasses. It’s nice that the website offers suggestions as to the items one can fit in each size variant. I had trouble envisioning that and knowing what size to get.

Materials
The zipper is the focal point of the whole pouch as it tracks across the top, down the side and around to the front. The slider (a number 3 YKK plastic slider as the site says) was a little fidgety to get around the top corner, at first. But once one gets the hang of it, it’s fine. I will say that the number 3 slider may be a little small for anybody with hand/finger issues to grab and keep hold of. It might be wise to put a Pull Du Jour or some other kind of longer/larger pull on there, if this is your situation.

Attached to the top of the Ghost Whale Organizer Pouch is the same familiar snaphook that we see on so many Tom Bihn pieces. This is why I love these. They fit right into the O-ring system and hang perfectly in any Tom Bihn bag, especially in the side pockets of the Synik/Synapse. However, while they do snap in and hang nicely, the closeness of the snaphook to the pouch doesn’t leave any slack to be able to pull the pouch out of a given pocket while staying hooked to an O-ring. They really only pivot at the O-ring.
Dang it, Tom Bihn! You got me AGAIN! 😂
The solution: an 8 or 16 inch snaphook to O-ring Key Strap! I matched those straps to the color of the GWOPs that I have.
Branding
The only branding on the Ghost Whale Oranizer Pouch appears as a TB tab right next to the snaphook. Small and unobtrusive but tasteful, as always. I do think that Tom Bihn’s branding game is absolutely on point, even on Bantam.

Conclusion
In summary, these fun little pouches do exactly what they’re intended to do. They hold stuff. They keep stuff in place, enhancing one’s organization and sense of togetherness. What more can one ask from a Ghost Whale?
How I Got This Item for Review
I purchased this item myself. Tom Bihn did not supply it to me for review. The opinions in this review are my own and would not be swayed one way or another if I had been given a review unit by Tom Bihn.
