This is Fantasticarry… and here it’s all about carry gear. I love the materials that make up carry gear. I love the artisans, who create and assemble the materials that make up carry gear. And I love the companies, who employ the artisans, who create and assemble the materials that make up carry gear.
It’s a passion – with a fair amount of obsession sprinkled on top to make it spicy 🌶️.
And if you’re here, I suspect I’m not alone!
Welcome, friend!
What Does Fantasticarry Do and Why?
To start, at Fantasticarry, I’ll be doing reviews – some shorter, some a little longer, all honest. That’s what I’ve got – for now. Your time is valuable and I make it my goal to bring to you the information that you need to make informed decisions without bloat and without externally-influenced bias influencing my opinions.
My goal is to bring you as much content from the carry world as possible. And as I make inroads into the space, I hope to become as good as those who are already here. I hope that you’ll enjoy what I bring to the table!
For now, I’m only beginning this hike. So please, put on your hiking shoes and join me on this exploration into the world of fantastic gear, fantastic design, and the fantastic makers behind it all!
Let’s see where this thing can take us together!
What Sets Fantasticarry Apart from All the Others?
Nothing really.
There are a lot of great reviewers, researchers, and everyday people with great websites, who have a passion for carry. I’m just putting my passion and perspective out there, too, like all those, who are already out there.
I will never claim to be the end-all-be-all to the carry world. Far from it. I am not an expert in PU coated fabrics (but they’re great). I may not be able to speak authoritatively on the history of the reverse coil zipper but I will find out, learn, and share it with you as I go. And as with everything, I make it my mission to improve each time I produce something new.
The one thing I do know, for sure, is that I love carry gear. I love the materials that make up carry gear. I love the artisans, who create and assemble the materials that make up carry gear. And I love the companies, who employ the artisans, who create and assemble the materials that make up carry gear.
Is Fantasticarry Paid to Do What It Does?
No and yes – a little.
I am not directly paid by any company to say what they want me to say. Let me repeat that…
I am not paid by any company to say what they want me to say.
I am compensated in the form of:
- an every-so-often evaluation unit that a company may send for review or
- an affiliation with companies that afford me a small percentage of sales that are generated through my reviews or links to products that they sell. This comes at no extra cost to the consumer.
Trust me. I’m not getting rich here. Nor am I looking to get rich from this. I have a full-time job. But like I said: I love carry gear. And I just want to grow that love and obsession. 😊
Two Promises:
- I will NEVER let my affiliation with any company taint my unbiased and honest reviews of carry gear. Just ask the people who know me. I’m not afraid to speak up.
- I will always be straight with you regarding what you’re looking at. If I’ve purchased a product I’m reviewing, you will know it. If I’ve received a product from a company for review, you will know that, too. And if I’ve got an issue with a product, you will definitely know it.
So Why Participate in Affiliate Programs at All?
My entire raison d’etre for participation in affiliate programs is simply to help pay the costs associated with hosting a website, keeping a domain, and perhaps some of the coffee consumed trying to create great content. Like I indicated above: I don’t expect much, because it’s primarily a labor of love. But…
I will always let you know with whom I’ve affiliated. I don’t feel the need to hide it. Here’s the list:
Fantasticarry is affiliated with:
- Amazon – Who doesn’t love an amazon box showing up at home?
If you would like to use the links I provide to purchase products from any of the companies I’m affiliated with, that’s great! And THANK YOU for your support of Fantasticarry! Don’t forget, it doesn’t cost you anything more to do so.
If you don’t want to use my affiliate links, THANK YOU all the same for your visit! I hope you’ll stick around, enjoy some content, and still tell me about what’s new in your carry collection! Send an email!
And if you’re a company looking to get more exposure for and unbiased thoughts about your carry gear, contact me. I’d love to check out your stuff!
Thanks, again, for coming!
In Gratitude…
I would like to thank a few people, who have inspired me to dive in and get going with all of this, knowingly or not. Some of you I’ve talked to. Some of you not. ALL of you have my gratitude.
- Mountain – The MountainBorn – You, my friend, are next level! Your vibe is totally unique. Your reviews are intelligent, professional, and the closest thing to carry-space ASMR I think I’ve seen. The photography you’ve done is staggering as well. And through it all pierces the unmistakable gentleness of a spirit so kind. What a world. What a world. Thank you for inspiring me!
- George – George DEFINED – I LOVE your reviews, positivity, depth of knowledge, gentle spirit, passion for family, and the personal touch that comes across in every video you make. Thank you!
- Danny – Danny Packs – You are possibly the most thorough reviewer of travel gear I have seen. I can only aspire to be as clear and in-depth as you are. You’ve dialed in to a formula that works, for sure. I think I’ve watched almost ALL of your videos, some more than a few times! Thank you!
- Aaron – Nomads Nation/Fyro – Your journey has been a pleasure to watch. True story, I reached out to you on Thanksgiving Day to throw some thoughts out to you about getting this blog going. You’re a BUSY guy and kind of a legend in the carry community but you responded anyway! Here I am, brother! Thank you for taking the time!
- Spencer – My Tom Bihn Reviews – The Tom Bihn guy. I love your deep dives into everything Tom Bihn! I’m a Tom Bihn guy, too. You don’t cut corners or mince words. You call it as you see it. And both the Tom Bihn world and the carry community are better for it. Thank you!
- Klint – The Perfect Bag – One thing became crystal clear in the brief exchange I had with you a while ago. You don’t play when it comes to your passion. You’re actually the one, who told me do this. So here I am, diving in! Thank you!
- Douglas D – Canvasworker – I started paying attention to The Brown Buffalo a while ago and sometimes I’m a little thick. What I didn’t notice was Canvasworker! I am WELL BEYOND IMPRESSED by your passion for sharing your skills with others, to pass along what you know, and to serve as a pseudo sewing sponsor to those just starting on their own maker journey. One of these days I’m going to sign up! You may not be in the review space but you’re definitely an accomplished maker and that’s a part of my journey, too. It’s good for the soul! Keep on keepin’ on!
- Tom Wahlin, Eric Hergenreder, Lauren Maternowski – Pack Hacker – I have always loved what you do! I hope that Fantasticarry can become as prolific a site as Pack Hacker is. Your team has developed a formula that’s so polished and effective. And the time I’ve spent watching (countless hours) and learning has been entirely worth it. Thank you!
And Who Am I?
My name is JP. I’m the new guy.
